Jump for Joy in June

Get your sunscreen and buckle up! June is the start of event season in Oshkosh, Wisconsin’s Event City. Not only do we have summer to look forward to, but this month also kicks off some of the area’s most popular events. Music festivals, farmers markets, fairs and fishing tournaments are just a few of the many events taking place this month in Oshkosh.FarmersMarket_29

June begins with opening days for the Farmers Market and the Pollock Community Water Park. Thunder in the Park, one of the best charitable events of the year, will feature the fourteen-class Fox Valley Motorcycle Show and Thunder Car Show. The first Saturday of June is also the host of downtown Oshkosh’s monthly, Saturday Night Out and Gallery Walk. Elvis is in the building as Blue Suede Shoes rocks the Grand Opera House.

Week two gets festive with all things Irish as the Oshkosh Irish Fest invades the Leach Amphitheater with two fun-filled days of great Celtic music, authentic Irish food and incredible Irish dancers. Explore the creative works of talented, local artists at the 59th annual Winnebagoland Art Fair. The Annie Moses Band sets the mood as it brings a special love song performance to the Grand Opera House. Kids can kick the ball around all weekend during the Oshkosh on the Water Soccer Tournament.

Waterfest kicks off at the Leach Amphitheater this week with the headlining band, Styx. For those looking for even more musical entertainment, the Oshkosh Area Community Band is also performing its summer concert.

Kids can spend a night under the starts at the Menominee Park Zoo during Snooze at the Zoo. The EAA is hosting its Ultralight Day, featuring vintage aircraft rides and a lunch. Grab your fishing pole for the summer edition of Battle on Bago, which awards more than $100,000 in cash and prizes to random winners. The Square Fare, held in conjunction with the Saturday Farmers Market, offers more than 50 addition vendors around Opera House Square.

Summer officially begins in the fourth week of the month and the lovely ladies of the Miss Wisconsin Pageant come to Oshkosh, making for beautiful week. Fisherman will invade Lake Winnebago for the FLW Fishing Tournament. If you are looking for a cheap breakfast, head over to the EAA for the Breakfast for a Buck Fly-In Breakfast. Enjoy more food, along with music, as the weekly Live at Lunch summer series begins. Families can enjoy a Slow Roll on their bikes through Oshkosh or a Free Family Movie Night at the Leach Amphitheater. Don’t forget to stop and smell the roses during the annual Oshkosh Garden Walk.

Sawdust IMG_1093As the month winds down the last few days of June bring a little something for everyone. Bring the kids to Mascot Day at Menominee Park or drive over to Ardy & Ed’s for the monthly Cruise Night. Sawdust Days ends the month with a bang and brings us right into an eventful July.
