POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 437 is hosting POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony on Sep. 21 at 1 pm in Oshkosh at the South Park War Memorial on the corner of Ohio and 11th Ave. We must not forget all of our service members that served our country from all wars that are still prisoners of war or missing in action.

Mike Weaver will be the keynote speaker

Weaver served in the U.S. Army as a Medic in Vietnam from 1968-69 with the 44th Medical Brigade and attained the rank of Spec. 5.

He served as the past President for the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 351 in Appleton and was the Senior Captain of the Patriotic Guards for 11 years. Weaver participated in 43 KIA escorts and burials and also 7 escorts and burials of American POW/MIA’s. Weaver served on the VFW rifle squad in Kaukauna and is a member of the DAV chapter in Appleton. He served 12 years as a member of the St. Paul Hospice Team where all of his patients were Veterans.

Weaver retired as V.P. in banking after 45 years in the industry. He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin. He is married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
