The last weekend of February, thousands will head onto frozen Lake Winnebago chasing big dreams.

The eighth-annual Battle on Bago fishing tournament takes place Feb. 27 and 28 and features more than $250,000 worth of prizes.

The biggest fish will bring bragging rights, but smaller fish will win big. In fact, there are fishing prizes in a variety of tournament placements, including a 2014 Ford F150 for 150th place, a 2014 Ford F-150 at 900th place, a Lund 1875 Impact with a Mercury 150hp motor for the 400th place winner and a 1650 Rebel XL Sport with a Mercury 90hp motor for the 600th place winner.

There’s also a raffle where entrants can win $3,000 cash, two Honda Foreman 500 ATVs and more.

Everyone who fishes Lake Winnebago is in for a treat regardless of what kind of luck they have on the ice.

Lake Winnebago is a simply outstanding place for ice fishing. It’s the largest freshwater lake entirely within a U.S. State. It had a maximum depth of 21 feet and covers more than 137,000 acres.

The lake is known internationally for its fantastic freshwater fishing.

Battle on Bago tickets cost $30. You can weigh one fish per fishing ticket of any of the following species: walleye (minimum length 12”), pan fish (perch, bluegills, crappies), or white bass.
